What is a Business Incubator?
A Certified Business Incubator can take on many forms; however, they all have a common purpose and go through the same certification process. Business incubators are developed to nurture small businesses and provide them with the tools and support they need to grow and contribute to the community.
This support can come from all forms, including financial resources, mentoring, marketing assistance, and access to conference rooms, copiers, faxes, legal advice, hands on management training, and much more.
Regardless of the type of business the incubator may cater too, all business incubators have to be certified through the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. The certification process involves submitting business plans, financial resources, resumes of board members, and operating guidelines. In addition, the incubators board members are interviewed and the incubator site is visited by the Department of Commerce. If certified, the incubator will receive a certification letter, which in return allows the incubator's tenants to claim Oklahoma state income tax exemptions for up to ten years.
Synergy Enterprise Development's Certified Business Incubator believes strongly in the idea of an atmosphere of synergy. We believe "Tall Trees Grow Where Tall Trees Are." By creating an atmosphere where successfull small companies mingle with small business start-ups, the new business can develop faster and stronger through networking and social support systems. In addition, we also provide business mentoring, business legal support, access to shared office resources such as high speed internet, conference rooms, copier, and fax machine. All with the purpose to strengthen the small businesses in our community.
